Ok am not actually telling people to smoke.. and i've done couple of photos before about "NOT to smoke" but the idea here was to be invited by someone who isn't appealing at all, i mean if it was me i just wouldn't take it from such a person.. starting from his facial expression to his fingers and the way he is dressed up and handing the cigarette.. but i'm sure that there are some people who would like to try it.. (their problem )
I just think that the message "smoking is bad" shouldn't be said in only one way (DO NOT Smoke!)
Depth of field is amazing, and so is the choice of dress code and the facial expression. Sharpness and detail is also top notch on the hand and cigg, and how it fades away to the actual person. My only negative point is that if you are trying like you said to show this guy "offering" the smoke, it doesnt look like offering. He is just doing the smoking itself and looking rigid and rough, which is cool but not the message if thats what you are aiming for. Actually this pic makes me feel smoking IS cool. Just my first impression. Anyway Keep it up
I love the DOF in this shot. He's out of focus, the hand is in focus but looks like it's really far from the body etc.
But there's one thing about it, the cigarette ash isn't sharp. For me that destroys the main feature.
The hair on the hand is also a little distracting for me, but still it's in focus and good.
I think you used High Pass in photoshop? It's very gritty, which is good, but would look a lot better if the ash was sharp too.
I've said a lot of negative, but really this is a great show with a good idea behind it and something I have never seen before, has the 5 out of 5 for originality.
The expression on his face is fantastic, hateful and challenging. The last point is what is under his hand (in the background). Is it a gun? A phone? Something. And that really adds mystery.
