Description

This was captured with my 60mm macro lens, what i love the most about it is the DOF that lens provides, as you can see most of the jumper is within the same depth, in other words the difference between what's in focus and what's out of focus is minimal so you can see more of this little creature.

Before I write anything I would like to quite one of the comments before me, specifically that by <img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/t/w/t…" alt=":icontwooost:" title="twisted-bat"/>

You make spiders look adorable.

I would say I have to agree completely. Being a slight arachnaphobic myself I would either run away... or being the sadist that I feel I am sometimes... crush it...
However...
With this excellent upclose macro photo you have managed to recreate the beauty of this spider and all other misunderstood creatures of the world.

From a purely technical point of view I would still say this is a great photo. Exposure, light and not least the DOF make this photo into something out of the ordinary.
Composition wise I would only rate the photo as good... not terrific but far from bad.
From my point of view I feel I am instantly drawn to the eyes, which I have to agree are a great focal point. However, I almost feel this focal point is overshadowing the rest of the beautiful features that spider has to show off.
Either way, I can't say I have much experience on the subject of photographing a creature like this, but I would have tried to achieve a slightly different pose just to make the entire spiderstand out more and not just one area.
Just an honest opinion... but I do love that excellent DOF!
