Why Spoons? I believe that delivering a message through a photo is like writing a quote, it should be as simple as it gets and straight to the point so i decided to choose a simple yet a useful object to deliver my message.
The Message: While someone could serve a community as good as the others (if not even better), Racism could actually break this person turning him/her into a useless part in that community.
The only difficulty i faced in this shot was painting the black spoon with a spray paint without losing original texture and shine.
When I first saw this piece, my first thoughts were "oh spoons. how... omg wow."
This deviation is simple and seems to get the point across quite perfectly, without the clutter of extra bells and whistles. I honestly think this is actually easier to understand, even without context, than an illustration of a racist community to anyone who knows anything about racism.
Even though I didn't understand the point at first sight, my realization, though a bit late, hit me like a bullet. It was almost like the way a giant statue or a god appears, commanding out of a foggy mist. It's striking.
I also have to say that using spoons to represent people was a great idea. The resemblance is something that one doesn't think of all the time -- but when you do think about it... it makes perfect sense. We both have bodies and heads!
Excelent and, like you said, the message is clear and the image concise... simply perfect

But I digress. This is a wonderful deviation
